Hello! I am a writer born in 1983, living in Japan, and I enjoy writing articles about idols, which I usually contribute to my personal blog "Komusume no Tsurezure," as well as magazines and web media.
I have been a fan of Hello! Project since 1998.
Since 2018, I have been sharing an "introductory playlist" of Hello! Project songs on my blog. With many of these songs recently becoming available on subscription services that reach overseas listeners, I have launched this new English announcement page starting in 2025.
The song list below is a carefully curated selection of 120 standout tracks from the Hello! Project catalog, spanning 1997 to 2025.
(These songs have been selected to let you easily relive the rich history of Hello! Project, featuring popular hits and tracks that highlight key moments in its legacy.)
In the late 2000s, when Hello! Project’s popularity in Japan was declining, it was not only us Japanese fans but also many overseas fans who supported it together. I will always remember their support and remain grateful for it even now.
"May Hello! Project continue to be loved around the world from now on."
With warm wishes from Japan.

Caught between the triumphant surge of 'Mini Moni. Janken Pyon!' and the new development of 'W,' this album didn’t get much attention from non-fans in real-time. However, I think it’s one of the greatest musical works ever produced by teenage idols.

At this time, the popularity of Morning Musume, the main pillar, was starting to peak out. However, across Hello! Project as a whole, solo artists and various units were holding very active live tours, and the excitement at the concert venues was pretty incredible. Among them, the one that stands out as the representative example is, of course, 'Goma-con.' Even now, watching it, the fans are so perfectly coordinated it’s almost laughable, and it really gets your energy up.37・Morning Musume. It’s been said that Aya Matsuura performed live as an active member of Hello! Project only until around 2009. Whether it’s her early 'idol cyborg' era or her later 'artist' era, as long as you don’t get the entry point wrong, pretty much anything you buy from her past works is a guaranteed hit. The fact that the secondhand prices of her later works still haven’t dropped much speaks volumes about this."

If the golden age of Morning Musume was what created Hello! Project, then I believe it was undoubtedly the idol careers of Berryz Koubou and ℃-ute that supported its subsequent growth period. From elementary school age into their 20s, their very maturation enriched Hello! Project into a fruitful culture. So, if you haven’t listened yet, start with their respective complete best albums.

The best album of Country Girls (2014–2019), a group that 'adorably' livened up Hello! Project in the late 2010s. Their signature songs, likely to be remembered for years to come, are probably 'Itooshikute Gomen ne' and 'Peanut Butter Jelly Love,' but personally, I hope more people will notice the brilliance of 'Koi wa Magnet,' the last single featuring Manaka Inaba.
This is an album by Kobushi Factory (2015–2020), a group that could be considered a symbol of Hello! Project in the late 2010s. Unfortunately, a complete best album has not been released, so if you want to look back on the 8-member era, go for Tsubaki Sono Ichi, and if you’d like to experience the 5-member era, which saw dramatic evolution through their encounter with a cappella, check out Tsubaki Dai Ni Maku—choose according to your interests.
